Can anyone tell me if there is a parameter that can be used to prevent a user issuing items when they have charges above a set limit?

We have set TAL_SELF_CHARGE = NO, this allows a user to issue items when they have fines.

We thought that maybe something similar to "TAL_SELF_FINE_LIMIT = 15.00" may exist for charges.

HI

This is how I have set up our Self Service params which prevents users from issuing an item if they have any charges against them:-

TAL_SELF_MESSAGE_LEVEL = 5
TAL_SELF_RECALL = YES
TAL_SELF_OVERDUE = YES
TAL_SELF_CHARGE = YES

TAL_SELF_FINE_LIMIT = 0.01
TAL_SELF_HIRE_LIMIT = 0.01

TAL_SELF_FINE_LIMIT and TAL_SELF_HIRE_LIMIT are limits that only apply to the fine and hire charge incurred by a specific issue/renewal regardless of the borrower's outstanding charges: do not authorize an issue or renewal that incur either a fine greater than TAL_SELF_FINE_LIMIT or a charge greater than TAL_SELF_HIRE_LIMIT.

To prevent issues or renewals to borrowers whose outstanding charges are above a certain monetatry value then set the configuration variable TAL_SELF_CHARGE_LIMIT to denote this value (but make sure TAL_SELF_CHARGE is either not defined or set to YES). For example, when TAL_SELF_CHARGE_LIMIT = 12.5 then any borrower whose outstanding charges are above 12.5 will be prevented from issuing/renewing items.

Please, note that TAL_SELF_CHARGE_LIMIT can only be used with SIP2 version 2.

I hope this helps.

Zak,

Is TAL_SELF_CHARGE_LIMIT a new environment variable
introduced with with the new release of SIP2 announced
by letter back in October?
