We have a Plescon self service unit and we are having problems with the sip2 server stopping shortly after it has been started in the cron. The length of time it stays up varies from a few seconds to about 3 or 4 minutes.
It happened last September when we first connected the unit to our main Talis server, but it was sorted out. It has happened intermittenetly since then, but to no pattern and only occassionally. But it has been happpening every day since Febraury 1st.
Our network people say there is nothing on the network causing it, the supplier of the unit says none of the log files indicate a problem with the machine and Talis Support can not find anything to show why it is happening!
Has anyone else who has a Plescon self service unit experienced anything like this at all or could give me any ideas to try, please.

Plescon is currently not a Talis accredited supplier of self service units, however Talis does have many customers who are using Plescon units with no negative feedback. We will continue to work closely with University College Worcester to resolve this issue and at the same time would welcome the opportunity to work closer with Plescon

Currently we have two accredited self service unit suppliers with a 3rd being added very soon. More details are available from the Sales team.

Just an update on this fairly old thread. Plescon are now an accredited Talis Additions Partner, and have been since 2008. Through the partner programme, Plescon and Talis have developed a close working relationship, ensuring tight integration with the Plescon self-service units.

I believe that the customers with the Plescon self-service units have been pleased with the machines and the service from Plescon. Keen to hear other customer experiences.
